Weltrend Ranked Top 20% in 2016 Corporate Governance Evaluation and Awarded Most Improved Company

Hsinchu, Taiwan, May 24, 2017 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TAIEX: 2436) today announced that the Company was ranked top 20% among close to 1,500 publicly listed companies in Taiwan in the recent results of the 2016 Corporate Governance Evaluation and was also awarded with Most Improved Company Award. The award ceremony was hosted on May 24 in Taipei.

This is the third annual Corporate Governance Evaluation jointly hosted by the TWSE and TPEx. A total of 1,496 companies, 843 TWSE listed companies and 653 TPEx listed companies, were evaluated. This year's evaluation released the full results of TWSE/TPEx listed companies according to the corporate governance metrics and divided those companies into seven groups by score including Top 5%, Top 6% to 20%, 21% to 35%, 36% to 50%, 51% to 65%, 66% to 80%, and 81% to 100%. Weltrend is ranked in the top 6% to 20% tier in the 2016 results, greatly improved from the 36% to 50% tier in 2015.

TWSE and TPEx hosted the award ceremony in Taipei on May 23 with awards presented to 43 TWSE listed companies and 33 TPEx listed companies that were ranked in the top 5% group. In addition, 20 new entrants, 10 TWSE listed and 10 TPEx listed, ranked in the top 6% to 20% group were awarded with the Most Improved Company Award, which Weltrend is one of the recipients.
